Not sure how the Nextel Cup numbers on ABC will pan out against the NFL today, but as the Giants were holding on against the Lions we flipped over to watch some of the race from Homestead…it shows the difference in audiences when ABC/ESPN puts on the pre-race prayer and the National Anthe.as part of the pre-race show…the prayer was done by Miss Florida 2007 Kylie Williams, and I can’t remember ever seeing a pre-game prayer broadcast (that wasnt in a time of crisis.as part of a national pre-sport event…says a lot about that demo and NASCAR knowing what their fans want in the broadcast …the in-race shots as the sun set on Homestead (an.rose on Jimmie Johnson's title) were spectacular, as was the lighting in HD which made the race come alive…also loved the sounds from the drivers and their crews as they started their engines, would be a great touch to hear those NFL Film's like clips live in a team sports broadcast at some point…It was different to watch an.shows that NASCAR may have stumbled a bit in the ratings but still knows how to capture a sporting event.?
And the ups and downs of the college hoops season continue…Mercer lost to Harvard (BIG Saturday for the Crimson, with Tommy Amaker's team posting the win and the football team spanking Yale) and Gardner Webb went oh for MSG and then won Saturday…the old “six degrees from…” will begin soon as you trace USC through Mercer to Harvard to a team Harvard loses to in hoops…
