BCS Finalist Playing Games To Score Points…

PR Move of the Day:combined the marriag.of new media, video games and traditional sports strategy…an AP technology story on how LSU quarterbacks are using a custom-designed video game to prep for the Ohio State defense. It was a great branding story for XBox and XOS Technology, and shows how first adopters, especially in the male demo, can apply those leasure activities that have now become king (video games, fantasy leagues, blogs) to real life applications in sports and entertainment. We remember the days when former Major League managers like Bobby Valentine and Davey Johnson were the first to really use a computer data base to char.opponents, an.how they were mocked by traditional media and baseball purists. If this works for LSU and a growing number of other colleges mentioned in the story, we are sure this trend will be a bigger breakthrough in today's 24/7 media world. With competitive gaming becoming larger by the hour (check out the Global Gaming League as an example of how traditional sports and competitive gaming are working together), this use of the space is another early and unique “next step..Also, a nice branding story for XBox and XOS in a game filled with hype.?

Couple of other quick reads of notes…funny story in the New Orleans Times Picayune on the comparison between the LSU and Ohio State mascots, the Buckeye and the Tiger, and who would win that matchup (the mascot story is always a great pitch)…Ben Hill’.Business of Minor League baseball blog has a solid rebranding piece on the new owners of the Quad Cities teams and all the efforts they are putting in to rebuild fan loyalty and create a lifestyle brand around the team, something a team or brand of any size always has to keep on the top of the list…another place for those looking to get some unconventional exposure that is worth exploring is SI's Hot list, compiled by man about town Arash Markazi…like Rich Deitsch's Media Circus, it is .place where the unconventional and offbeat reside, and is always worth a look away from the everyday in sports..
