We have been diligent in trying to stay on top of all the teams with green initiatives (although the Nets were the first in) but the Phillies seem to be taking things to a new level in South Philly, getting accolades from the city, state and even the EPA for a series of long term steps with the team and Citizens Bank Ballpark to help change the environment. Amazingly unlike other teams, the initial push does not appear to be pegged to a sponsor, although the extensive path the team has blazed in such a short time will gain solid community support and can lead to some additonal return with to-be-determined energy conscious sponsors down the line.
Also, interesting comments in today's Forth Worth Star Telegram with regard to Vitamin Water and Mavs star Josh Howard, who recently admitted using marijuana in the offseason…it was good to see the brand stand behind their athlete but a little questionable that they took a lighthearted poke at other “alternatives” Howard could use outside of pot…namely a VW brand…more Obama and hoops from this week, as the University of North Carolina men's hoops team mix it up with the Senator…nice move which still may sway a few casual votes in a critical state…lastly, a good feature worth reading on espn.com by Ravi Ubha on the 15th anniversary of Monica Seles’ oncourt stabbing and what has and has not changed in terms of security and tennis.
