Wild Promo Goes For The Gold…

We love unique promotions, and it seems like the Minnesota Wild found a cool one with a local brand to generate buzz and some unique ROI that could go national. Hiway Federal Credit Union is conducting a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt around its sponsorship of the  Wild that gives participants the opportunity to win the cash value of the weight of an official NHL puck in gold (valued at approximately $5,800).

Clues to where the Hiway Gold Puck is hidden will be posted on,  a content site Hiway’s Facebook page and via @HiwayFCU on Twitter each Friday beginning Friday, March 4 and through Friday, April 1, 2016 (unless the puck is located earlier). There will be a total of five (5) clues leading to the gilded puck’s general location, hidden somewhere on public land in Hennepin or Ramsey County, MN. The person who locates the puck will receive the cash value of the puck’s weight in gold from Hiway. 

The contest was created and will be executed on behalf of Hiway by The Brand Enhancement Group a sports sponsorship and activation firm located in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Hiway, based in St. Paul and the official credit union of the Minnesota Wild, also offers the Minnesota Wild PowerPack, which includes a customized debit card, credit card and checks.

While many teams have done online scavenger hunts tied to social, the uniqueness of the item, plus its value gives this an extra special pop for creativity and fun, and hopefully scores some extra points for their brand partner. Nice play for the Wild and Hiway Federal to find a way to cut through the clutter.
