NFL’s Most Engaged In Social? Starts In Dallas…

Sometimes when you are the biggest and in many ways the most influential it’s easy to rest on ones laurels. However if you are the Dallas Cowboys, as successful a brand as there is in sports regardless of position on the field, you seem to always find ways to stay on top of the business game, even in areas like social media engagement.

As we head into week two of the NFL preseason, the folks at MVP Index looked at the top 10 NFL teams in social engagement, and “America’s Team” is again on top in reach, and in the amount of ways they connect with fans and grow their interactivity to promote via social. While the pull of teams like the Cowboys and New England Patriots is not surprising, the Oakland Raiders presence on the top 10 may surprise as well.

As far as the numbers go, the Cowboys are the second most followed team on Twitter in the league with 1.82 million total followers, and lead the league in engagement on the platform in daily average retweets at 4.7K/day. The Cowboys are the top team in the league on Facebook in audience size with 8.26 million, that’s 1.76 million more than the second place New England Patriots.

While the Cowboys slightly lag behind the Patriots in Reach score, they are the most engaged team in the NFL on social media, with the Carolina Panthers coming in second off of their great 2015 season culminating in a Super Bowl loss.

Not a bad place to be for Jerry Jones and company, and a nice little addition to his Hall of Fame nomination this week.

For more detail on engagement for the top 10, check out the charts below...Screen Shot 2016-08-16 at 9.00.39 PM
