Old Habits, New Year Still Work To Bring People and Places Top Of Mind…

January 23, 2025 by Joe Favorito
Spread the love

Facebook, or META remains an obsession to some, an annoyance to others, a necessary evil for another group.

For me it provides to essential services every morning. Every morning.

Birthdays and Memories.

Many complain about silly things like birthdays; but I don’t. Thanks to all, almost 500 people from around the world and around all the places we have been,  who took a few minutes out of a  somewhat chaotic day for many when you could be doing something else to send me a note, it is very touching and much appreciated. In another year where we haven’t been able to get together, little get together’s like this mean even more.

Every morning I go through birthdays from the day…and take a second to hit those who I have known far and wide with a few words. The ones I know the best I can email or text or even call, we don’t actually see many these days as we know, but it serves a great purpose to remind us who we are, how we got here and who those people are who have helped us get down the road.

The other function I hit is memories. If you have posted things from time to time, odds are you may forget. The memories button has served as a great reminder for occasions, images, stories, reads, phrases, a hodgepodge of our past that are often important enough that we did click or post them to share a reflection, a thought, a laugh, an idea.

Neither take very long, but they give at least me a second to reflect, reset, and usually smile or laugh just as things get going. It also serves as a reminder to how precious people are, and where the time goes…

Birthdays and memories, are worthwhile stop on Facebook, no matter how forward thinking we are.

Oh and one other thing. Every business day I change the message on yes, my landline. It not only reminds me to look at old messages it really helps keep you present, in a time where we can easily drift away…but that’s just me.

Give it a daily shot, you will probably “Like” what you find. Pun intended.
