Our time at Super Bowl on Media Row was a gift that keeps on giving for curious learners. Latest examples are below. Three quick listens with three leaders in the media space, all from different angles, all overseeing three distinct, disruptive and growing platforms…The Ringer, Front Office Sport and   Action Network. As always you can catch all our podcasts here.

The success of The Ringer. Bryan Curtis, Editor-at-Large at The Ringer and co-host of The Pressbox podcast joined us for a wide ranging conversation on media, consumer habits and the changing face and scope of storytelling. We explored the evolution of journalism and content creation, the value that The Ringer brings to its growing audience and the challenges that are faced even with its success under his leadership and that of Bill Simmons. We also traced Bryan’s journey from his early career to his work today. Listen along.

Front Office Sports Keeps Growing. We also got to spend time with  Dan Roberts, Editor in Chief at Front Office Sports and Columbia Journalism School grad, for a discussion into the evolution of sports media and the business trends shaping the industry and how FOS is adapting their narrative. We  discuss the importance of covering what’s interesting—not just what’s new—and the challenge of converting social media viewership into engaged readership. Dan also shares insights on the increasing private equity investment in international sports and the current state of NIL in college athletics. Dan began his career at Fortune Magazine before moving to Yahoo Finance and later served as Editor in Chief at Decrypt and Variant in the crypto space before joining Front Office Sports, so we touched on where Blockchain’s emerging opportunity in sports is also coming from. Another listen for all those wanting to be smart on the media business.

Gambling with Success. Last but not least is Chad Millman, Chief Content Officer For The Action Network, Host of the Favorites Podcast and award winning author, editor and business professional. In this episode we discuss the fascinating evolution of sports betting, reflecting on Chad’s book The Odds: One Season, Three Gamblers, and the Death of Their Las Vegas. We go into how the landscape of sports gambling has transformed with decriminalization, the rise of data analytics, and the unexpected trends in what fans choose to bet on. From the early days of underground sportsbooks to the explosion of legalized betting markets, Chad shares insights on how the industry has adapted and what surprises still emerge. Click away it will be a gamble worth your time.
