Todd speaks to the concepts of debate being the inspiration of his new book and his desire to expand the book into the media sphere. He expands on the process of writing and his career path. Todd tells us about the surprises he found from doing the research and interviews for the book and explains about what sports or athletes bring about the best stories. Todd speaks about the athlete and media relations before or after the pandemic and why it is not better. He expands on the importance of objectivity in sports documentaries and productions. The growth of sports business in Africa. We caught up with Sandrine Nzeukou, founder of Playbook. Sandrine speaks about her background in sports and her success in basketball (playing at UNLV and professionally as well) and how it led to her current status as an entrepreneur in sports. She also talks about the size and scope of Basketball Africa, and the status of their league. Sandrine expands on the growth and education side of sports in Africa and what that looks like and how using media as a platform and touches on the process of understanding each country in Africa for bringing in investors, as well as the impact and opportunity sports tech will continue to have. How is AI Reframing the sports business. We were joined by Gary Warech, Global Leader, AI for Sports & Entertainment to speak more about sports and AI. Gary goes through his career and the diverse experiences he has been a part of. He speaks about AI and the education side of it. He speaks about AI’s impact on the business and the consumer side with AI technology in sports as well as difference between open and closed source AI and how leagues deal with it. Gary discusses what skills are needed in the AI industry and the new jobs that get developed and touches on startup companies that invest in new technology and the impact these companies have on solving problems.
